Hetauda, March 29

Shalikram Jamkattel, Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, will take the vote of confidence on April 1.

On Friday, Ratna Prasad Dhakal, chief minister’s party CPN-Maoist Center whip, registered a proposal for Jamkattel to take a vote of confidence in the provincial assembly secretariat.

On March 6, the Nepali Congress withdrew its support from the government. According to the constitutional provisions, if the political party participating in the government withdraws its support, a vote of confidence must be taken within 30 days.

If Jamkattel gets 56 votes in the 110-member Provincial Assembly, he will continue as the chief minister. On Thursday, after the agreement between CPN-UML, Maoist Centre, CPN-Unified Socialist and Hamro Nepali Party, the Chief Minister secured the necessary majority.

In Bagmati, UML has 27 seats, Maoist Centre has 21 seats, CPN-Unified Socialist Party has seven seats and Hamro Nepali Party has two seats.
