Nepal were comprehensively beaten 5-0 by Bahrain during the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier on Thursday.

The game, which was supposed to be held in Nepal, was played in Bahrain after the AFC deemed Dashrath Stadium’s pitch unsatisfactory.

Nepal started the game off poorly conceding in the second minute as Mahdi Al-Humaidan gave Bahrain the lead. Sayed Baqer doubled the lead in the ninth minute as Nepal were looking at getting beaten comprehensively.

The young team, which had four debutants, gradually got into the game however Bahrain scored their third goal in the first half of added time through Adli Madan.

The hosts added two more goals in the 87th and 96th minute through Ibrahim Al-Khatal and Ismail Abdullatif respectively.

This marks Nepal’s third defeat, and the team has yet to secure any points. Previously, Nepal suffered defeats against UAE and Yemen in Group H.
